    Virgin Trains West Coast is reporting delays between Nuneaton and Lichfield Trent Valley due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures.

  2. Chiltern rail line to close for upgradepublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 19 July 2016

    The line between Leamington Spa, Banbury and Bicester North will be closed from for nine days , externalfrom 30 July for an upgrade to the track.

    Network Rail says the £76m investment will result in a "more reliable" and "modern" system that will be controlled from the West Midlands Signalling Centre in Birmingham.

    A former children's home manager has gone on trial at Warwick Crown Court accused of 23 separate charges of indecent assault and cruelty.

    Robert Brown, from Caister-on-sea, in Norfolk, ran the Manor Court Children's home in Nuneaton in the 1970s. 

    The 68-year-old denies the charges, relating to eight children who were in the home in the 1970's.

    An area of Stratford-upon-Avon was evacuated yesterday after an unattended suitcase was reported in Henley Street.

    Police say they closed Mansell Street, Guild Street and part of Birmingham Road while explosives experts examined the luggage.

    It turned out not to be suspicious.

  13. Council has been inspecting sludge, slurry and sewage to track down source of swarms of fliespublished at 10:24 British Summer Time 19 July 2016

    "Extensive investigations and inspections" have been done to track down the source of a swarm of flies affecting houses in Brinklow near Rugby, the borough council says.

    It has been looking at "stockpiles of treated sludge, treated sewage and slurry spreading" as well as working with farmers to ensure the "ploughing in of manure" as soon as possible after spreading.

    But a statement issued by the council goes on to say the environmental protection team has no control over such practices unless it can be "proven there is a link between a specific nuisance and a specific premises".

    It has served a notice on one property thought to be the source of swarms.
