  1. Wind farm plans expected to be rejectedpublished at 13:51

    I've been out to see for myself the site of a proposed wind farm in Rutland.  

    The thin mast in the centre of this picture marks the site but the actual nine proposed wind turbines will be much bigger than this.

    So many residents are keen to speak against it at this evening's planning meeting at Rutland County Council that it is a ticket only affair.

    Officers are recommending the proposed wind farm be turned down in its current state.

    He's missed the whole season so far with a broken jaw sustained in Tigers final pre-season match, and had hoped to return in time for last weekend's match at Worcester.

    The plans at Woolfox Farm , externalwould include nine turbines and a separate application for solar panels on the old airfield near Greetham.

    The Leicester City boss says it's a recognition the whole team is doing well and he hopes to be nominated again next month.

  5. Fire service has taken casualties to hospital beforepublished at 12:54

    Luke and Summer Swanwick had to be cut free from their car when they crashed on the A47 late on Monday night, but they didn't expect to be driven to hospital in the back of a fire engine.

    Although it seems it's nothing new for the fire service.

    A spokesman for Leicestershire fire service said depending on a person's condition, they had taken casualties to hospital before rather than wait around for an ambulance to arrive.

  6. Car driver killed in A1 collisionpublished at 12:35

    We've got some more details from the police, external now on that fatal collision on the A1 this morning.

    It happened on the northbound carriageway of the A1 in Stretton in Rutland just before 01:00 and involved a HGV and a VW Polo.

    The man driving the VW Polo was pronounced dead at the scene and no-one else was injured.

    Leicestershire Police want to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A1 during the early hours of this morning and witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles beforehand.

  7. Distress call was 'suspected technical fault'published at 11:59

    Some more now on the aeroplane that made an "in distress" signal before landing at East Midlands Airport.

    Flybe confirmed the flight "landed safely without incident at East Midlands Airport following the report of a suspected technical fault". 

    "As is common practice in such situations, the airport put its emergency vehicles on standby as a precautionary measure.

    "All passengers disembarked as normal when the aircraft arrived on stand," a spokesperson said.

  8. EMAS says 'sorry' to familypublished at 11:41

    More now on the couple who were taken to hospital in a fire engine... East Midlands Ambulance Service has apologised to Helen Walmsley-Johnson and her family.

    They say there will be a full investigation into why an ambulance wasn't available to take her brother and sister-in-law to hospital after they were involved in a collision.

  10. A1 closure causing chaos on A606published at 11:22

    Whenever there are problems on the A1, the Oakham to Melton road is always slow but I have never seen it like this morning.

    I gave up trying to drive through Melton about five miles south of the town and turned back to take a tortuous route cross country.

    BBC Traffic is still reporting severe delays on the A606 and the A1, so check before you travel.

  11. Missing 17-year-old could be in Coalville or Ibstockpublished at 10:56

    A 17-year-old girl has been reported missing from her home and police are concerned for her welfare., external

    Demi Morrell, has been living outside of the county, but it's thought she may be in the Coalville or Ibstock areas of Leicestershire.

    She was reported missing on Sunday 6 December at about 9pm.

    The Leicester City boss has overseen an unbeaten month of fixtures which included wins over Watford and Newcastle and a draw against Manchester United to keep them in the Champions League places.

  15. East Midlands plane 'in distress'published at 10:12

    We're still waiting for more details on this story but I can tell you Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to East Midlands Airport last night following reports of a plane "in distress". 

    Crews set out to the scene just before 20:00 but returned to base after the aircraft landed safely.

    Police have confirmed a person died in the collision on the A1 in Rutland early this morning.

    There are no more details yet as to who they were.

    The road was closed northbound for several hours after the crash with delays still in the area.

  17. Family's fear as ambulance fails to arrivepublished at 09:36

    Helen Walmsley-Johnson, from Rutland, says she feared she could have seen her brother and sister-in-law die after they were involved in a collision off the A47.

    It's after the ambulance didn't turn up to take them to hospital, and instead, they were taken in a fire engine.

    Helen told BBC Radio Leicester: "The first estimated time of arrival from the ambulance service was apparently two hours, then they couldn't give us an arrival time for an ambulance at all.

    "Then they said if we if we cant get an ambulance by midnight we're going to send them in the fire engines."
