Vegetable growers in Lincolnshire say the recent wet weather is causing them serious problems.

The British Growers' Association say harvests of cabbages, cauliflower and broccoli have been reduced, and describe it as a "nightmare situation" for farmers.

Although the national supply chain should mean that shoppers will see little difference on the shelves, Lincolnshire growers will see their incomes cut.

Further heavy rain is forecast for Lincolnshire tonight, and tomorrow.

Lincolnshire motorcyclist, Ivan Lintin, says a return to racing is "out of the question" at the moment.

Lintin, from Bardney, was left fighting for his life after being involved in a crash in the Southern 100 on the Isle of Man last July.

Fellow competitor, James Cowton, from Driffield, died in the same incident.

Lintin spent nine weeks in hospital; two of them in a coma.

Nearly a year on, he told BBC Radio Lincolnshire he's having ongoing issues with his leg which was "smashed up", and his brain, which "isn't as good as it used to be".

He added that his next milestone will be to return to work as a retained firefighter for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.

Patisserie Valerie has closed down on Lincoln High Street.

The cafe chain went into administration in January and was bought for £5m by Causeway Capital.

The Lincoln store survived but, today, a sign in the window read: "To our valued customers, we are sorry to say this store is now closed. We would like to thank you for your custom and look forward to seeing you in our other stores."

It follows the news that five people have been arrested and questioned over alleged accounting fraud at the Patisserie Valerie chain.

Causeway Capital said as far as it was aware the arrests did "not relate to any current employees of Patisserie Valerie".

Police found Matthew Beattie's films, along with more than 2,000 indecent images of children.

A woman, who was arrested after two jets were scrambled from RAF Coningsby to escort a plane back to Stansted Airport, has been released on police bail.

Jet2 said there had been an "extremely disruptive passenger" on board a flight from Stansted to Dalaman in Turkey on Saturday, forcing the aircraft to turn around.

Doctors diagnosed Roderick Bevan in 2016 while treating him for another condition but did not offer him radiotherapy for another 15 months.

Neglect contributed to his death, an inquest found, with his family saying his great-uncle Aneurin Bevan "would have been appalled" by his care.

Two NHS trusts apologised and said processes had changed after a review.

Mr Bevan, from Grantham in Lincolnshire, died aged 66 in May 2018 from lung cancer.

Prospective buyers have one week left to make a bid to take over the British Steel site in Scunthorpe.

British Steel was placed into compulsory liquidation on 22 May, putting 5,000 jobs at risk and endangering 20,000 in the supply chain.

The firm's owner, Greybull Capital, failed to secure financial support from the government after claiming it faced a number of Brexit-related issues.

High Court documents show British Steel had debts of £880 million at the end of March.

A six-week public consultation which could see dogs banned from Gainsborough's two cemeteries has started.

It follows concerns that dogs are being allowed to foul and urinate on graves in the General and North Warren cemeteries.

Gainsborough Town Council wants to introduce a Public Space Protection Order, which would ban dogs from both sites.

It would also ban the consumption of alcohol and the use of vehicles such as motorbikes on the sites.

The consultation is being carried out by West Lindsey District Council.

A woman has died in hospital after she was injured in a crash involving two cars and a pick-up truck.

The crash happened at about 13:45 on Friday on the A17 at Asgarby, near Sleaford.

Lincolnshire Police said the woman, who was in her 50s, was travelling in a blue Kia Picanto when it was involved in a collision with a white Nissan Navara and a blue Suzuki Swift.

A man in his 70s who was also travelling in the Kia was also injured.

The force is appealing for witnesses.

South Holland District Council's Housing Team said while most people have now returned, the residents of two flooded bungalows can't yet go home.

Audrey Foreman, 94, told BBC Radio Lincolnshire that she'd never seen anything like in her 35 years living on Lyndis Walk.

She said being evacuated was a devastating experience, but thanked the Lincolnshire firefighters who helped her.

A man has died after a crash on the A1M in North Yorkshire, police say.

It happened on the southbound carriageway near Leeming Bar at about 16:50 on Friday and involved a blue Honda Civic car.

A 26-year-old man, from Scunthorpe, was taken to James Cook Hospital where he later died.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for anyone who may have dash cam footage of the crash or who saw the car travelling along the A1M to come forward.

These will merge into more persistent bands of rain at times and there's also the chance of a few thunderstorms.

A further £65,000 could be spent tackling drug addiction and anti-social behaviour in Lincoln city centre.

An intervention team started work in the city last October, following increasing problems with drug addiction and alcohol abuse.

City of Lincoln councillors are expected to meet tonight to discuss more funding for the team, which would allow it to continue working until December 2020.

More than 580 homes in and around Wainfleet in Lincolnshire were evacuated after heavy rains.

Emergency planners are starting the "recovery phase" of their operation.

It comes after all 1,000 residents who'd been evacuated from their homes were allowed back on Friday.

About 130 homes were flooded after the River Steeping burst its banks following heavy rain about two weeks ago.

Steve Eason-Harris, from the Emergency Planning Team, says a volunteer co-ordination hub will be open from today at Coronation Hall.

"Anyone who wishes to volunteer to help put Wainfleet back on its feet can come along to us, register with us, get the right information and then they'll be tasked to do specific jobs in the community, where it's needed the most," says Mr Eason-Harris.
