    Despite a highly critical report into a Lincolnshire school for children with learning disabilities, police say they're taking no further action.

    Soteria House School in Anwick near Sleaford was closed in May.

    Ofsted inspectors had said children were not always being protected from actual or potential harm.

    The school and its residential unit were closed.

    In a statement to BBC Radio Lincolnshire today, police said they've carried out voluntary interviews and no further action is being taken.

    Pipers Crisps based in North Lincolnshire is recalling two varieties.

    Dr Ross Williams is a senior lecturer at the School of Life Sciences at the University of Lincoln and says the firm will want to know what could have gone wrong.

    A dead baby seal and porpoise have washed up on the beach in Skegness.

    The coastguard also found an empty 25-litre chemical container nearby.

    They were called out yesterday afternoon to the beach close to Butlin's holiday resort in the town.

    Police want to speak to this man after a bank card left in a cash machine was taken and used at three stores.

    The card was taken from Aldi in Queen Street, Boston on 23 August and later used to complete several contactless transactions to the value of around £60.

    Grantham-based charity The Woodland Trust is starting a mass tree planting campaign today to try to tackle climate change.

    The conservation charity wants to get more than a million people to pledge to plant a tree in the run-up to a mass day of planting across the UK on 30 November.

    In England in the past year just 1,420 hectares (3,500 acres) of woodland was created, against a Government ambition of 5,000 a year (12,000 acres).

    Charity ambassador and Great British Bake Off presenter Sandi Toksvig, said: "Climate change is a real threat and it affects us all. But there is the simplest of all solutions. It's green and lovely - the humble tree.

    "It eats carbon dioxide for breakfast and makes all our lives better.

    "And what's more we can all do our bit to take action now and plant one."

    Six women and three men who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder have been released on bail.

    The group were held after a 38-year-old man was found at a house on Finkin Street, Grantham, on Saturday night with a puncture wound to his stomach.

    He was taken to hospital but the injury was not life-threatening.

    The nine people, aged between 28 and 52, were questioned by Lincolnshire Police and bailed pending further inquiries.

    Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes into Lincoln over the next few days to avoid congestion at the junction of the A158 due to roadworks.

    Fifty drivers under the age of 25 will get the chance to take advance driving courses for free under a new project announced by the Police and Crime Commissioner and IAM RoadSmart.

    Lincolnshire Police say, in 2018 alone, there were 512 incidents in which people were killed or seriously injured – including 56 fatal crashes.

    Of these, 132 involved a driver aged 24 or younger – up from 104 on the previous year.

    They hope the scheme will help reduce the number of casualties.

    Three men have been arrested after a man in his mid twenties fell from a roof in Boston.

    It happened at about 09:30 on Sunday morning at the Crumbs cafe in Dolphin Lane.

    The man is being treated for leg injuries.

    Lincolnshire Police say they're investigating the matter as a case of wounding with intent.

    Holiday company Thomas Cook has collapsed after failing to secure fresh investment.

    The firm had been looking for more than £200m. Around 9,000 jobs are now at risk in the UK.

    Its collapse has triggered the biggest ever peacetime repatriation, aimed at bringing more than 150,000 British holidaymakers home, and left the plans of thousands more in disarray.

    The Department for Transport has said people who are still abroad on holiday will be contacted and brought home on the closest day as possible to their scheduled flight.

    John Sanderson, from Lincoln, was due to go on holiday to Spain next week and only found out that the company had gone bust from the radio.

    Firefighters are currently dealing with a large blaze involving about 800 one-tonne bales of hay off the A15 near Caistor.

    Fire crews were called to the scene off Carr Lane in North Kelsey at about 07:30.

    Firefighters from Market Rasen and Caistor are in attendance.

    Lincoln City's new manager Michael Appleton will start work at the club today.

    The 43-year-old former Oxford United boss takes over at Sincil Bank following the departure of Danny Cowley, and his brother Nicky, to Huddersfield Town.

    Appleton has been appointed on a contract until June 2023.

    His first day comes hot on the heels of a 6-0 drubbing at home against his former club Oxford United.

    Nine people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was seriously assaulted.

    Police were called to Finkin Street, Grantham, where a 38-year-old man was found with a "puncture wound" to his stomach, on Saturday night.

    Six men and three women, aged between 28 and 52, are being questioned, Lincolnshire Police said.

    Forensic examinations have been taking place at the property and police have appealed for information.
