Royal British Legion worker guilty of sexual assaulting widowpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 10 October 2019
A Royal British Legion worker has been jailed this afternoon after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a widow he was supposed to helping.
Michael Furniss, 62, has also been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Sentencing him to two years and three months in prison, Judge Steven Coupland told Furniss, of North Hykeham, near Lincoln, that he targeted the vulnerable woman in an "appalling offence".
The Royal British Legion says it has taken action as a result of the case.
