Chris Blacksell spoke out after an investigation by the JPIMedia Data Unit, external found Humberside Fire and Rescue recorded 12 attacks on firefighters during 2018-19.

The probe also found the Yorkshire and Humber area is the second worst in the country for the number of attacks, behind West Midlands.

At least 70 health visitors in Lincolnshire are to hold a month-long strike in their ongoing row with Lincolnshire County Council over pay and working conditions.

The walkout is due to take place from Monday 18 November, according to the Unite union.

The strike is the latest to take place in the county, with workers claiming they've lost £2,000 a year since their contracts were transferred over to the county council from the NHS.

In a statement, Heather Sandy, interim director of education at Lincolnshire County Council, said it was "disappointing" the walkout was to go ahead.

"Unite's suggestion that all health visitors should have a starting salary £3,500 above their colleagues in the health service is financially unsustainable and would have serious implications for bordering NHS service recruitment," she said.

Police investigating a robbery in Lincoln have released CCTV images of three men they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

The robbery happened in Beevor Street at about 05:15 on 19 October.

Lincolnshire Police said the victim was treated for minor injuries after being punched during the incident. His cash and rings were stolen.

Police want anyone with any information to come forward.

Three people have been arrested in Lincoln this morning as part of a campaign to tackle weapons offences, Lincolnshire Police has confirmed.

A man in his 30s and two women, one aged in her 20s and another aged in her 50s, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs and a number of weapons were also seized.

As part of a wider campaign, more than 30 arrests have been made in the county and weapons including knives, guns and baseball bats have been seized, police say.

Officers will be taking further action to tackle offenders over the coming weeks while also educating school children and communities about the danger of possessing weapons, according to Lincolnshire Police.

Work is due to begin today on installing a 300-tonne barrier gate in Boston as part of a major flood prevention scheme.

The £100m project will help protect the town against tidal surges.

A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a man accused of murdering a British backpacker.

University of Lincoln graduate Grace Millane, 22, was last seen in central Auckland, New Zealand, on 1 December last year, before her body was found in bushland a week later.

A 27-year-old local man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has denied her murder.

The Auckland High Court trial is scheduled to last up to five weeks.

Miss Millane's death prompted an outpouring of public grief in New Zealand with the country's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern apologising to her family.

She had been travelling alone in New Zealand for two weeks, following a six-week group trip through South America.

The family of Miss Millane, from Wickford, Essex, became concerned after she failed to respond to birthday messages on 2 December.

Lincolnshire’s Nathan Decastro is now the WBF and WBU world title holder after he claimed a fifth-round victory against Mexico’s Fernando Castaneda at the Engine Shed in Lincoln.

Decastro dominated for the majority of the fight and the referee decided to stop the contest in the fifth-round after a heavy punch saw Castaneda drop to the canvas.

He is already targeting the IBF world title and fancies a fight at Sincil Bank in Lincoln next year.

Decastro, who trains at Bracebridge Heath Boxing Club, described the atmosphere, external as "electric", saying it was "a night I’ll never forget".

A man, in his 20s, has died after the car he was in collided with another near Gainsborough on Friday.

The collision, between a black Audi A3 and a grey Jaguar XF, took place at Grayingham, on the B1398/B1205 crossroads, at about 22:30 GMT .

The Audi driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a teenage girl, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
