Lincolnshire's largest council has approved a new £1.8m computer system today - in a bid to put an end to mistakes on employee pay.
Lincolnshire County Council says the investment will address a "number of ongoing problems" with the authority's current system.
The decision comes after the council was forced to take its payroll systems back in house after provider Serco was fined £2m for failures in council employees' pay.
Council officers said the new system would save the authority around £200,000 a year.

A Father Christmas figure put up in a Lincolnshire town centre has attracted complaints for being "tacky and tawdry".
The festive addition to Market Place in Louth has sparked a second row in the town this Christmas, after a dispute broke out earlier over plans for a plastic tree.
A decision was eventually made to go with a real tree after a local supplier offered to provide one free, but now the town's attracting attention for its "bad Santa" (pictured below).
Kate Levey, one of those complaining about the Father Christmas, says it doesn't fit in with the town's other decorations.
But Dawn Jackman, who created the figure after raising cash through crowdfunding, said when it was first put up it looked great, but claims it has has since been vandalised.

The new platform has a smoother surface and a ramp has been installed to maintain step-free access.

It wasn't to be for Boston United after losing 2-1 to League One Rochdale last night in the FA Cup second round replay.
The game saw a home crowd of more than 4,000.
Rochdale now go on to host Premier League side Newcastle United in Round three.
Boston United manager Craig Elliott told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I'm really proud of the players and of everybody at the club.

It's a cloudy day across Lincolnshire.
Here's the latest forecast:
There are renewed calls for tolls for people driving across the Humber Bridge to be scrapped.
The bridge, which is about 6 miles west of Hull city centre, runs between Hessle and Barton-upon-Humber over its 1.4-mile length.
The calls to make it free to cross come on the first anniversary of tolls being scrapped on the Severn Bridge.
The England to Wales crossing has seen a rise in use of more than 10% since tolls were abolished, according to Highways England.
Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce is leading the campaign to scrap tolls on the Humber Bridge.
David Hooper, from the chamber, says: "It would boost the economy and it would boost economic development and it's something we'd very much like to see."

The driver of the grey Audi, a man in his 60s from Lincoln, died at the scene, the force says.

Air crash investigators say it could take months to find out why a plane crashed near Spilsby at the weekend, killing the pilot.
The single-seater plane crashed at Mavis Enderby just after 13:00 on Sunday afternoon and a man was pronounced dead at the scene, Lincolnshire Police said.
Three Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) inspectors are leading the investigation, supported by the force.
Mark Hatt-Ellis, an engineer-inspector at the AAIB, says the plane has now been recovered.
"We'll be taking the aircraft to Farnborough where over the next few months we'll take the aircraft apart.
"I'll be going through it in detail, looking at its systems and the engine - all those parts - to try and understand."
Anyone who saw a small aircraft flying in the area between 10:30 and 13:00 on Sunday has been asked to contact Lincolnshire Police.
