    Preparatory works for the A46 Dunholme/Welton roundabout project are set to begin on 24 February.

    Temporary traffic lights will be in place for about five days while hedges are cleared and other vital maintenance is done.

    From today, GPs in the region will offer patients a virtual reality kit allowing them to have rehabilitation exercises at home instead of going to a hospital.

    Health bosses say it'll be useful for those struggling to attend appointments in person and will help reduce waiting times.

    A police officer has been commended for his part in a "dangerous pursuit" of a gang of cash-machine thieves.

    Power tools were thrown at Sgt John Rickells' patrol car and a laser was shone in his eyes as the criminals drove at more than 120mph through northern Lincolnshire:

    Four people were jailed for using a telehandler to steal an ATM from a shop wall in Holton-le-Clay.

    Sgt Rickells received the citation from Humberside Police's chief constable.

    A giant sculpture of a dragon bursting though the walls of Lincoln Castle will form the centrepiece of a forthcoming exhibition.

    Lincolnshire County Council has tabled plans to install the sculpture in the Cobb Hall area of Lincoln Castle grounds from March 18 until October 14.

    Cast in polyester resin, the dragon would be created by using “false walls” in front of the real walls to create the appearance that it has broken through the castle.

    It would come as part of the “Once upon a time” vision for the castle this year, which will explore local myths and legends.

    A burglar from East Yorkshire who taunted police on social media by telling them to "catch me if you can" has been jailed for five years.

    Oliver Hargreives, 29, taunted Humberside Police by posting on a social media appeal to locate him in November when he was wanted on recall to prison.

    The force said following his post they were able to trace his phone signal and officers were sent to arrest him.

    On Friday, Hargreives, of Valway, Hook, in East Yorkshire, was jailed at Grimsby Crown Court after pleading guilty to offences of burglary relating to a break-in at a house in Waltham, Grimsby, ABH and assaulting a police officer.

    Conservative councillor Paul Skinner was officially appointed at a meeting last night.

    Former leader Aaron Spencer, who was one of the country's youngest council leaders, quit last month after just six months in the job.

    Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln will be hit with 14 days of strike action over the next two months.

    It's one of 74 universities where union members will walk out in a row over pay and equality.

    The strikes will start on the 20 February.

    The University College Union also says it'll run fresh ballots to allow more strikes if the dispute isn't resolved.

    A man has been charged with attempted robbery following an incident near Boston last week.

    Three men dressed in black entered a house in Wheatsheaf Close in Sibsey just after midday on Friday 31 January, according to police.

    Officers say they threatened the elderly occupant who fought them off.

    A 35-year-old man from Rothwell was subsequently arrested and has been charged with attempted robbery.

    An appeal is being made for dashcam footage or witnesses to come forward.

  16. Boultham Park tree replacement plans go on showpublished at 08:00 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Plans to plant more trees at Boultham Park in Lincoln to make up for those being removed as part of a £1.2m restoration project are going on show there later.

    In all, about 40 trees will be taken down, but the council says it'll plant more than it takes out.

    Information sessions will take place at the cafe there this afternoon to show the extent of the replacement programme and how it will work.

    Caroline Bird, community services manager, says: "There'll be a few of us there, from the council, from Boultham Park Advisory Group and also from Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

    "We'll have some plans to show people what we intend to do, what trees we'll be taking out, what we'll be planting and where we'll be planting it."
