Pre-booked only tickets for rides and a one-way system for visitors are part of plans being outlined for the re-opening of Lincolnshire's Fantasy Island holiday resort when coronavirus restrictions are finally eased, it's been confirmed.

The owners of the well-known resort, at Ingoldmells, near Skegness, say they're "busy putting measures in place" for the site's reopening, once the government go-ahead is given.

Only visitors who've booked rides online will be permitted on the site and a "free entry, one-way walk-through system" will be in place for the resort's Market Town when the resort is open once again.

The measures will be aimed at ensuring social distancing and "keeping our employees, visitors and the wider community safe", the resort's owners say.

"We will do our all to keep you safe and therefore, we are looking to make some changes to the way that we operate our resort," they add.

Garden centres are allowed to reopen from today following some easing of the coronavirus restrictions, but some in Lincolnshire say they're not yet ready to open.

Owners of Scothern Nurseries, near Lincoln, say there's still plenty of work to do before they can be sure customers and staff are safe.

They are also warning customers that stock will be limited because their suppliers don't have everything available following the lockdown.

Golf, tennis, angling and basketball are among the sports taking tentative steps in allowing the general public to return to participation.

Seacroft Golf Club in Skegness is allowing members to play in pairs and has implemented measures to make sure people can play safely.

Staff say they aren't surprised by the response, as people are keen to get out, and the nature of the sport means it's easier for people to socially distance.

Police say they will continue to use a "common sense" approach to dealing with potential coronavirus breaches as the lockdown eases in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

Humberside Police said the pandemic had been a challenging time for police officers who have had to "balance" dealing with new legislation with day-to-day policing.

The government announced that from today, people can take unlimited exercise, as well as new rules about meeting people outside of their household.

Ch Con Lee Freeman said adhering to social distancing guidelines isn't something police can deal with, but gatherings of three people or more from outside their household aren't allowed.

He said: "Our policing approach at Humberside Police will continue to use common sense and discretion.

"We will continue to deliver day-to-day policing and where we see potential breaches, we will engage, explain and encourage members of the public to comply with the new rules.

"As before, we will only use enforcement where we feel we have no other option," he added.

NHS colleagues at Boston Pilgrim Hospital have paid tribute to their colleague Anuj Kumar at his funeral today following his death after testing positive for coronavirus.

Staff nurse Anujkumar Kuttikkottu Pavithran, 44, died last month at the hospital where he worked.

He was the first front-line health worker in Lincolnshire to die after contracting the virus.

He leaves behind a wife and two children.

Neighbours stood at the end of their drives to pay their respects.

His funeral was held at Boston crematorium and the ceremony was streamed online.

The head of NHS England has praised the way Lincolnshire's health and social workers have been handling the coronavirus pandemic.

Three men have been arrested after police found a quantity of what they believe are class A drugs at a property in Scunthorpe.

Officers from Humberside Police's Op Galaxy team carried out a warrant at an address on Cole Street shortly before midday on Tuesday.

They carried out a search of the property and three men were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply, police say.

All three remain in custody while inquiries continue.

The improvements, which will start this month, will take place on Peaksfield Avenue and Willingham Street.

Owners of a number of properties on Willingham Street will also be contacted to arrange surveys to measure for the installation of flood doors, air brick covers and openings for gas and electricity points for further protection.

The works, costing just under £500,000, are being fully funded by the Environment Agency and Anglian Water.
