    Lincolnshire's Assistant Director of Public Health is warning that the county's beaches will shut if they become too crowded.

    Tony McGinty says if social distancing rules aren't observed it will recommend to the government that they close.

    Mr McGinty said: "The first thing we will do is ask the sensible people of Lincolnshire to think about what they're doing and change their behaviour before we get to enforcement. But ultimately we are in a position to be able to ask for those sorts of things to happen."

    Managers say they're planning to reopen on Friday, 10 July following the relaxation of lockdown regulations.

    Perspex screens have been installed in the foyer and spaces are being left between seats to ensure social distancing.

    Police are trying to find the owners of a number of items recovered after a man was charged with burglary.

    A police officer has been knocked to the floor and kicked in Lincoln.

    The officer was attacked while on duty last week, but has since recovered, according to Lincolnshire Police.

    It's the latest attack on an emergency worker in the county, after a man smashed the window of a police car in Sleaford at the weekend and assaulted the officer inside:

    A cordon remains in place at a house in Spalding this afternoon after two bodies were found there earlier.

    Officers who were called to the property, in Winsover Road, at about 05:30 this morning found the bodies of a man and a woman, both in their 30s.

    The cause of their deaths remains "unexplained" at this time, according to Lincolnshire Police.

    Two men, aged 29 and 46, who were also found at the property have been arrested and remain in custody, officers say.

    Household waste recycling centres in Lincolnshire will soon allow cars with small trailers and accept more types of waste again as coronavirus restrictions are eased, it's been confirmed.

    All 11 sites in Lincolnshire will now open five days a week, from Friday to Tuesday, according to Lincolnshire County Council.

    On a Monday and Tuesday, residents will be allowed to bring general waste, plastics, plasterboard, mattresses, scrap metal, waste electricals, batteries, household chemicals, mineral and cooking oils, gas cylinders and clothing, the council says.

    On Tuesdays, residents will also be able to bring along bulky items such as carpets and sofas to the sites.

    Meanwhile, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, garden waste, wood, soil, hardcore, scrap metals, waste electricals, batteries, household chemicals, mineral and cooking oils and gas cylinders and clothing will be accepted.

    Councillor Eddy Poll says: "We'd like to thank the public for being so understanding as we've reopened this much needed service. Since opening, we've had over 50,000 bookings and have been overwhelmed by the positivity and kindness of our residents."

    Investigations are continuing this afternoon into the "unexplained" deaths of two people whose bodies were found in Spalding early this morning.

    Officers who were called to a property in Winsover Road at about 05:30 found the bodies of a man and a woman, both in their 30s.

    Two men, aged 29 and 46, who were also found at the property, have been arrested and remain in custody, officers say.

    Lincolnshire is one of the 140 local authorities facing a budget shortfall because of the economic costs of the coronavirus pandemic, it's emerged.

    Lincolnshire County Council is forecasting a £3.2m black hole.

    The authority says it's not considering an emergency budget, and insists it has reserves which could be used.

    It comes as some of the largest UK councils say they may have to declare themselves effectively bankrupt unless the government agrees to further support.

    Five councils across the country say emergency spending controls - so-called section 114 notices - could be needed due to the impact of Covid-19.

  16. Man in 'critical' condition after fight in Grimsby parkpublished at 09:00

    A man's suffered what police say are "potentially life-threatening" injuries after being involved in a fight in Grimsby.

    The incident was reported in People's Park, off Park Drive, at about 22:00 last night, leaving one man in a "critical" condition and needing hospital treatment.

    Another man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody, according to Humberside Police.

    An investigation's been launched and anyone who saw what happened, or who has information about the fight, is being asked to contact police.
