Ipswich Witches, external boss Ritchie Hawkins is demanding an improved performance from his side when they take on Workington Comets at Foxhall tonight.

Although the Witches home form has been excellent all season they stumbled to a disappointing 48-40 loss at Edinburgh last time out.

“We have got to put Friday behind us but we have got to learn from it,” Hawkins told the club website.

“We keep saying it every week but Workington have the potential to give us a really good meeting.”

Well, whether he likes is or not Ed will be performing to a big ol' crowd at the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night.

So today's #TBT takes us back to a much simpler time for the singer when he played to a much more intimate group of fans at Worthy Farm back in 2011.

Ed, who still lives in Suffolk, is an ambassador of EACH, and has been a good supporter of the charity since he linked up with it in 2014.

A recent sale of 70 items of his clothing fetched nearly £7,300 for the charity - and his performance at a gala dinner in aid of the Nook appeal, external at the Natural History Museum raised more than £260,000

An eclectic mix of clothes worn by Ed Sheeran has gone on sale at a charity shop in Fakenham.

The Suffolk singer, who was recently awarded an MBE for his services to music and charity, is an ambassador for East Anglia's Children's Hospices, external (EACH).

The top selling artist, who's headlining the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury, has donated 10 items of clothing to EACH'S shop, which opened in the north Norfolk market town today.

Included in the mix are t-shirts and trousers, a pair of shorts and a plain white shirt.

EACH area retail manager Sarah Throssell says fans won't be disappointed.

An overturned van and trailer are causing "severe disruption" on the A14.

The dual carriageway is closed eastbound following the incident at Claydon.

Emergency services are on the scene.

Two Suffolk cyclists will see how they fare against the nation's best at this evening's National Time Trial Championships.

It will be the third elite men's national time trial, external for Martlesham rider Lloyd Chapman.

He'll be hoping to improve on last year's seventh place as he takes on the 27.6 mile (44.4km) race-against-the-clock on the Isle of Man.

The Catford CC tester will be up against five-times national time trial winner Alex Dowsett, from Maldon, Essex.

Chapman, who came fifth in 2015, said: "I'm feeling good about the course, it has some good technical parts and consists of mostly rolling roads.

"It's a good sporting testers' course, which I am happy about."

Meanwhile, Ollie Jones, from Ipswich, is taking part in the under-23 championships.

The judge at the trial of a teenager who is accused of a double murder in Ipswich has started summing up at the Old Bailey.

Nelson Smith, 18, from the West Meadows travellers' site, on the outskirts of the town, is accused of stabbing two men in December.

Barry Street, 32, and Nathan Oakley, 18, died in hospital after the incident at the site.

Mr Smith denies murder and claims he acted in self-defence.

A former Great British Bake Off contestant has caught the attention of Ed Sheeran - at last.

Val Stones, who appeared on the show last year, regularly tweets her favourite musician, but had not had a response from the red-haired singer, until now.

Glastonbury headliner Sheeran, who grew up in Framlingham, sent the amateur baker from Somerset a video message, saying he thinks she's "wonderful" and "let's cook sometime".

Greater Anglia has warned of train delays after lightning struck the signalling system between Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

Trains are running at a reduced speed.

It said disruption was expected until 13:00.

A motorcyclist has died in a three vehicle crash on the A12 between Ipswich and Martlesham.

Suffolk Police, external said the collision between the motorbike, a Ford KA and a Volvo car happened on the northbound carriageway just after 20:00 last night.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police closed the A12 for several hours while investigations took place. The road reopened at 03:00 this morning.

Two young girls who had climbed out on the rocks at Ness Point "were lucky" not to get hurt, the coastguard said.

As we've reported, a warning has been issued after two young girls were cut off by the tide after climbing out on the rock defences.

The girls got back to safety before the water got too deep but the coastguard has urged people to be mindful of the dangers.

Liz Hustler, senior coastal operations manager for the coastguard, said: "We want people to come to the beaches and enjoy their days at the beach, and the coastguard is there to help and advise.

"But we want people to be mindful of the dangers, aware of the tides and to realise how dangerous rock armours can be and to be aware of how dangerous going close to cliff edges or under cliffs can be."

Ed Sheeran, who headlines at Glastonbury on Sunday, has confessed to Radio 1's Annie Mac that he won't be hitting the Worthy Festival site until the day he performs because "I don't like big crowds of people".

"I'm not a big festival-goer," he added.

"I get very claustrophobic," said Sheeran, who played to crowds of 93,000 plus at Wembley.

"Every single member of my family is going to be there. It's going to be like a wedding reception afterwards!"

However, despite his aversion to crowds, Sheeran said he was "more excited about this [Glastonbury] than I was about doing the Wembley Stadium shows."

He said it would allow him to reach a different audience from his usual fanbase.

"Knowing there are people in the audience that possibly don't even like my music... that excites me."

And the key to his success? "Play songs that people know and you really can't go wrong."

Two teenagers arrested in connection with an incident where shots were fired at an Ipswich home have been released under investigation.

A firearm was discharged and items that had been set slight were thrown at a property at Kelly Road, near Chantry Park.

A 15-year-old and 16-year-old, both from Ipswich, were arrested yesterday evening.

They have been released by Suffolk Police while inquiries continue.

A third teenager, an 18-year-old, also from Ipswich, who was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply following the execution of a firearms warrant at his address has also now been released under investigation.

A safety warning has been issued after two young people were cut off by the tide at Ness Point.

The Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard, external was called to reports the pair had been spotted on the rocks just after 19:00 last night.

They managed to make it back to safety before the water got too deep.

The coastguard was stood down but issued a warning after the incident.

"Please do not climb on the outcrop at Ness Point. It is extremely slippery and when the tide does turn it covers it very quickly. This is for your own safety," the coastguard said.

A "controlled" bonfire at a north Suffolk marina sparked a call to the fire brigade.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to Brooke Yachts, Victoria Road, Lowestoft, just before 20:00 last night.

Three fire crews were sent to the scene.

A fire service spokeswoman said the blaze was "controlled burning".

Local author Crispin Hook, who sent us these photos and video, said he was cycling near Normanston Park when he saw the fire "raging".
