    Tree down

    There have been a number of reports of trees coming down across the South East amid the high winds.

    Photographer Eddie Mitchell caught this shot of a tree having fallen on to vehicles in Crawley early this morning.

    A glass garden table smashed in a spectacular style in Kent as Storm Isha caused chaos across the UK.

  3. Gale force winds recorded in English Channel

    The Port of Dover said sea conditions in the English Channel were “very rough”, with gale force 8 winds recorded.

    Officials at the Kent port urged people to check with their ferry operator for updates on their sailings this morning.

  4. Storm Isha: What we know … in 150 words

    Waves crashing off East Sussex coast

    Strong winds and heavy overnight downpours have been reported across swathes of Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

    • A yellow weather warning remains in place this morning, as Storm Isha continues to bring strong winds and travel disruption. The warning is valid until 12:00 GMT.
    • Power cuts are reported across parts of Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
    • The QE2 Bridge at the Dartford Crossing has reopened as wind speeds reduced. The A249 Sheppey Crossing has also reopened in both directions.
    • The Port of Dover said wind speeds in the English Channel are currently around gale force 8, and sea conditions are very rough. Ferry passengers are being warned to check with their operators before setting off.
    • Rail operator Southeastern is urging travellers to check ahead before leaving today. Some early services have already been cancelled. The company said it will be updating its live map of the situation.

    Thanks for joining us as Storm Isha - the ninth named storm of this season - hit Kent, Sussex and Surrey overnight.

    Strong winds and a deluge of rain swept across the South East, which are expected to bring disruption to rail, road and air travellers this morning.

    The Met Office say it is "relatively rare" for the whole of the country to be affected by storm warnings.
