A bistro which served up meals for elderly people during lockdown is closing after its owner said he had lost confidence in the industry.
Alan Chapman said the latest cancellations over Christmas sparked by concern over the Omicron variant led him to decide to shut Chappy's Bistro at the White Feather, in Berwick Hills, Teesside, next month.

He opened the restaurant with 12 members of staff, three months before the Covid pandemic in December 2019.
Mr Chapman, who also runs a flooring shop, said he would instead concentrate on that business instead.
