1. Sadiq Khan is re-elected as London mayor with 55.2% of the vote
2. Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner is sacked as party chair and campaign co-ordinator, say Labour sources
3. The SNP wins its fourth term in power in Scotland but falls short of an overall majority
4. The Conservatives have gained 239 councillors across England, won control of 12 councils and held on to the West Midlands mayoralty
5. Labour also wins the mayoral elections in Greater Manchester, North Tyneside, the Liverpool City Region and West of England

What do this morning's papers say?

It's the morning after the night before, and unsurprisingly many of today's front pages choose to lead with photos of an inflatable model of Boris Johnson - which was flying in Hartlepool yesterday, after the Tories snatched the Westminster seat from Labour.

Boris Johnson is preparing for a decade-long premiership, according to the Times. Cabinet ministers said there had been a permanent change in the nation's political identity, suggesting the PM could outlast Margaret Thatcher who was in No 10 for 11 years, the paper reports.
