  3. Our political editor's thoughts on PMQs and Mays futurepublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 8 May 2019

    Laura Kuenssberg
    BBC political editor

Even though we know Andrea Jenkyns is a critic of the prime minister, it's still quite something to hear one of Theresa May's own MPs to stand up at PMQs and call for her to go.

Mrs May has been explicit about what she'd like to achieve before she steps down - getting a Brexit deal through - but not about what happens if she fails, and no deal can be agreed. That's what worries many Tory backbenchers - that they are stuck in some sort of feedback loop - she fails, she tries something else, she fails again. They wonder how long this can go.

I think there must be a point at which she gives into demands to say more about when she'll go - that could come today.

One key sticking point though - none of the rivals who want take over from her want to do it now. They don't want to take on the mess of Brexit. If someone decides they are willing to do that, things could change very quickly.

  4. PM praises Williamson's 'commitment'published at 12:46 British Summer Time 8 May 2019

    House of Commons
    Parliament

Theresa May paid tribute to former Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson, who she sacked last week after an inquiry into a leak from a top-level National Security Council meeting.

In answering a question about his replacement, she took the opportunity to "commend" Mr Williamson for "his commitment to the armed forces". He acknowledged her words with a grim half-smile.

  6. Brexit 'not an issue about me' - PMpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 8 May 2019

    House of Commons
    Parliament

Eurosceptic MP Andrea Jenkyns says Theresa May has "failed" to deliver on her promises and the public "no longer trust her" to run Brexit negotiations.

She calls on her to "step aside" and let someone else lead the government.

Theresa May says she is "sorry" about the councillors who lost their seats during last week's local elections.

Brexit, she adds, is "not an issue about me" - adding that if MPs had voted for her deal the UK would have left the EU by now.

  7. Where is the social care Green Paper?published at 12:35 British Summer Time 8 May 2019

Theresa May is asked about the much delayed Green Paper setting out plans for the adult social care system. It was originally due to be published in summer 2017. That eventually became April 2019, but that deadline has been and gone. It's now due out “at the earliest opportunity”.

In reply, the prime minister says Richmond House is being "substantially redeveloped" but the facade and terrace of the building will be kept under the plans.

She adds that it is "imperative" that the total cost is as low as possible.

Theresa May replies that ministers are "working on" a deal that will get a majority in the Commons.

In reply, Mr Blackford says people in Scotland do not want a "Labour-Tory stitch up" and asks for another Brexit referendum.

The PM replies that she is "absolutely of the view" that there is a need to deliver on the result of the 2016 referendum.

He asks the PM to apologise to those "waiting for too long" to be seen.

Theresa May declines to do that and instead replies that A&E targets have not been met for over a decade in Wales under devolved governments led by Labour.

She repeats that the NHS has been given the "biggest cash boost" in its history because of good management of the economy by the Conservatives.
