  3. South African boxer diespublished at 17:24

    A South African boxer has died after being knocked out in the first round of a bout. 

    Mzwanele Kompolo died in hospital in the town of Frere in the Eastern Cape province, Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula said. 

     Kompolo was boxing against Siphenathi Qampi when he was knocked out.

     Mr Mbalula described him an "up and coming" boxer, and said he was saddened by his death.

    Nigeria's media has been reporting that President Muhammadu Buhari's government is in talks with militant Islamist group Boko Haram to secure the release of 219 girls abducted from the north-eastern town of Chibok more than a year ago.

    Fashion designers, known as the Uwi Twins, are making their debut at the New York Fashion Week this week with their collection "I Left My Heart in Africa". 

    The 27-year-old twin brothers, Reuben and Levi (pictured above), fled the Rwandan genocide when they were children and grew up in Canada. 

    Levi told BBC Newsday that going through the genocide "instilled the mentality within us that we have to be chasing your dreams right now because you don't know what's going to happen".
