  4. Fleeing conflict in South Sudanpublished at 17.16

    The BBC's Tim Franks travels to South Sudan to find out why the world's youngest nation has failed to deliver on the hopes placed in it at independence. 

    Although a fragile peace deal is in place, observers are not optimistic about its success.

    Tim visits Malakal, which once had a population of 140,000 but is now largely deserted as a result of the recent conflict between rebels and government forces.

  5. Buhari sends more ministerial nomineespublished at 16.47

    Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has submitted the second batch of his ministerial nominees to parliament for screening.

    Last month Mr Buhari - who came to office in May - sent a list of 21 people he wanted to have in his cabinet.

    MPs will start screening the nominees on Tuesday.

    Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a former governor of Benue state over allegations of corruption.

    Gabriel Suswan, who was governor between 2007 and May 2015, has previously denied any wrongdoing.

    President Muhammadu Buhari who came to power in May, has promised to tackle corruption in Africa's largest economy.

    #SomeoneTellKayihura is trending in Uganda as people here are angry at the Police Chief Kale Kayihura after his officers appeared to undress a woman while trying to arrest her at an opposition FDC rally on Saturday. 

    The police had been deployed to stop Kizza Besigye and his supporters from holding the rally. 

    FDC delegate Zaina Fatuma was photographed by local press almost completely naked being picked up by female police officers and put in a police pick-up.
