Residents on Sark are being warned that their electricity supply may experience interruptions.
Sark Electricity says it can no longer afford to provide power to its customers after it was forced to lower its prices.
The utility company's managing director said in a letter to customers that he had "no option" but to turn off the power to 300 homes at the end of November.
Sark Electricity generates its power by burning diesel on four generators in an old coal store
The Chief Pleas said it was working to resolve the situation and make sure homeowners and businesses had enough power to function adequately.
It said there would be key hubs of electricity to keep essential services available until the island has a full service restored.
Drinking water will be made available and a medical help point will be available 24 hours a day at the Assembly Room.
Guernsey company founder David Noakes, of Kent, admits in court to selling the unlicensed drug.

Guernsey's Barbados Beach Club has announced it will be closing next month.
The club - near the taxi rank in St Peter Port - was built in the mid-70s and has been known as many different names including Flags and The Golden Monkey.
Club owners announced the closure on social media on Thursday.
It will close officially on 22 December.

5G is faster and more reliable than 4G - which is the best connection currently available in the island.
The network aims to launch a test service next year and then roll out a Channel Island-wide service by 2021.

The average house in Jersey is now more expensive than the average house in London, the Jersey Statistics Unit have revealed.
The latest Jersey house price index found the average island home was £485,000 compared to £484,000 in London and a UK average of £232,000.
The figures show there are more properties selling - and for more money - across all property types.
An average one-bedroom flat is now worth £253,000, which is up £26,000 on 2017 and an average two-bedroom flat is worth £358,000.
Houses have gone up more than flats with an average three-bedroom house now worth £589,000 - up £33,000 on 2017 and an average four bedroom house worth £908,000, up £73,000 on the year before.

As the Christmas lights are due to be switched on in St Helier later, the town manager says Christmas shoppers make up a quarter of the town's yearly sales.
Daphne East says the area is facing a "make or break" few weeks and is relying on shoppers to spend their money over the festive period.
She says people shopping locally is important for the survival of the high street and everyone needs to play their part...

Knitwear that was made and designed in Guernsey features in the new instalment of the Fantastic Beasts film franchise.
Guernsey Woollens made more than 100 sleeveless jumpers worn in the movie by the police of the wizarding world - the French Aurors - in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Paul Eldridge helped come up with the final products and said they have quite a few nods to Guernsey - at the request of the film's producers.
However, he added only eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot the finer details...

A roof fire was burning "undetected for some time" in a Jersey home before residents left the burning building, firefighters have said.
Image source, Jersey Fire and Rescue ServiceThe blaze started in the property's loft and residents were alerted some time after when they heard "a loud bang".
Fire crews were called at about 20:30 on Wednesday to St Lawrence.
A fire spokesman said: "Due to the intensity of the heat a section of the roof collapsed, however, the crew’s hard work brought the fire safely under control."
The case is being investigated.

Jersey voters don't like having political candidates knock on their door and think manifestos are too long and complicated, according to a new report from research company, ComRes.
The research was commissioned by the States of Jersey to look at islanders' voting habits., external
The results showed only a third of those aged 16 to 34 turned out to vote and those born in Jersey are more likely to vote than those who have moved to the island from elsewhere.
Research also found those who didn't vote are more likely to if there was a candidate who shared their values and if they saw evidence their politicians could make a real difference.
The majority of non-voters said they "distrusted" the voting system, saying it is "disconnected" and "old-fashioned".
The estimated number of eligible voters for the end of 2017 is 83,620 which represents a difference of 21,497 when compared with the registered voter total as at 9 May 2018 of 62,123.

A local politician says growing medicinal cannabis in Guernsey's old greenhouses could make the island millions.
Deputy Carl Meerveld is supportive of growing and exporting the drug.
A number of moves have been made to cultivate medicinal cannabis in Guernsey over the last year and Health and Social Care says a local operator can apply for a license to grow the drug under the current law.

Deputy Gavin St Pier said a number of interested parties are working with the government.

The number of debt judgments fell by almost a third during the third quarter of the year, compared to the same time in 2017, according to data published by The Registry Trust, external.
But the average value of those debts - between July and September - increased by more than 80% to more than £2m.
