The family of Argentine footballer Emiliano Sala is hoping an underwater search for the missing plane he was aboard will begin at the weekend.
Salvage professional David Mearns is leading the search efforts after the plane, also carrying pilot David Ibbotson, disappeared off radar near Alderney last Monday.
Mr Mearns said: "We have sourced and hired a survey vessel equipped with state of the art search equipment which will be used to conduct an underwater search for the plane's wreckage in the area of the plane's last radio contact."
It is hoped the search vessel, currently in Southampton, will be operating by Sunday, he added.
The States is being asked to follow the UK procedure in how compensation is calculated and paid.
In his proposal, the chief minister said it would make sure people got enough money to look after themselves if they were unable to work.
However, he also said the courts must be careful not to give too much as there had been cases where people have invested compensation money and ended up with far more.
He also wants compensation to be paid in installments, rather than all at once.
Children automatically placed at local secondary school

For the first time in Jersey, children will be automatically allocated a place at their catchment secondary school this year.
Parents are due to get a letter this week confirming where their child is going.

non-cooperative jurisdictions are currently ongoing," the source said.
EU finance ministers will make the final decision on the list following these talks, which could be as soon as 12 March, they added.
Blacklisting comes with the potential for economic sanctions and significant damage to the reputations of the islands' financial services sectors, the backbone of the islands' economies.

A small delegation of the Sala family have flown over Alderney as they continue to seek answers about their son, Emiliano, who went missing with pilot David Ibbotson last week.
They left Guernsey Airport at about 09:30 on a chartered flight with harbourmaster David Barker.

They are hoping to get some closure by seeing the search area as they were "struggling with very, very few answers about an unexplained loss", and were also hopeful some evidence of the plane would be found, a spokesman said.
During the weekend two fishing vessels resumed a small search for the missing Piper Malibu, which the Guernsey authorities stopped looking for on Thursday.
The family's search is expected to resume on Monday.
Alderney airfield upgrade cost impact 'should be analysed'

Guernsey's senior States committee is asking that the option of replacing Alderney's airfield with a ferry service is looked into before any commitment is made to improving the island's runway.
A recommendation to upgrade the runway will be debated by the States this week.

With Sala's mother Mercedes and sister Romina beside him, salvage professional David Mearns told the media about their flight from Guernsey earlier.
