Centre-back Jamie Dodd was unwell last weekend, and missed the 2-1 home loss to Sevenoaks in which fellow defender Frank Tobin was sent off.

Tobin will still feature in tomorrow's match due to all bans taking seven days to kick in.

Kieran Mahon and Craig Young are still unavailable due to injury, while UK-based Tom Jackson comes in to the squad for Dave Rihoy, who is unable to travel this weekend.

Hythe Town are currently in 7th place in the Bostik South East League, 14 points ahead of the Green Lions.

A teaching union has said it's "disappointing" that strike action was necessary to get further talks on a new pay deal.

NASUWT had planned a walkout, but said further discussions with Jersey's States Education Board had led to "progress towards a better pay offer".

The union's general secretary Chris Keates said it was "disappointing" that it took "notification of industrial strike action" to allow for more talks.

"The States should be in no doubt however, that if next week’s discussions do not result in progress towards a better deal for teachers, industrial action will be back on the cards as teachers’ patience has run out,” he added.

Fewer than two weeks ago public sector workers marched through St Helier as part of calls for a better pay deal across all States departments.

The official report into the crashed plane carrying Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson will be released on Monday.

The Piper Malibu aircraft carrying the pair disappeared off radar north of Guernsey on 21 January.

The body of Mr Sala was discovered after a privately funded search examined the wreckage.

Mr Ibbotson remains missing.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch's report will be made public on Monday afternoon.

Guernsey Finance has appointed a new London representative to improve business connections.

Christine Gill will promote awareness of Guernsey's finance offering, educate about the island's financial services, and "connect London professionals with Guernsey practitioners".

Guernsey Finance said feedback suggests having a permanent presence in London has been valuable to both the promotional agency and the island's finance industry as a whole.

Mrs Gill will be responsible for expanding Guernsey's range of activities in London and identifying opportunities for Guernsey financial services businesses.

Members of a Jersey teaching union have announced they won't be going on strike as planned on Tuesday 26 February.

The National Education Union (NEU) says further talks between the unions and the States Employment board have led to a new pay offer.

Andy Wooley from the NEU says they are suspending industrial action so members can decide whether to accept the offer.

But he added that a public rally of civil servants and their supporters earlier this month shows the strength of feeling among States workers.

Jersey Hospice Care says people with terminal illnesses must be given "careful consideration" if assisted dying is legalised in the island.

It follows the decision by Jersey's government to look into the issue, after Guernsey politicians decided against the same move one-year ago.

The number of people making discrimination claims to Jersey's employment board more than halved in 2018.

JACS, the employment relations service, dealt with 23 claims in 2018 - compared to 58 in 2017.

Of those claims, most were related to sex discrimination issues, including pregnancy.

Its director, Patricia Rowan, says the drop is possibly down to the legislation being more "widely embedded" and understood by everyone.

Guernsey's Chamber of Commerce and Institute of Directors have welcomed the announcement of a daily Heathrow service from the island.

The flights will begin on 31 March.

Both the IOD and chamber said in a statement they believed the link was cost effective and praised the move for offering a more convenient method for international travel to and from Guernsey.

They also said the move reflected feedback they have had from the business community in 2018.

The joint IOD and chamber survey in 2018 suggested respondents wanted an airline that offered a choice of domestic and international connections.

The two bodies are encouraging islanders to take advantage of the Heathrow link to make it a "permanent" selling point for the island.

A Guernsey photographer who helped create a series of images and videos to highlight ocean pollution says an element of shock had to be used.

Karl Taylor has taken a series of photos depicting young children surrounded by litter, plastic and even syringes to raise awareness of the impact of pollution around the world.

The photo shoot was put together as part of an ocean pollution awareness campaign.

Images were created using thousands of pieces of litter collected from just 2km of the coastline over the past month in Guernsey.

The images include a baby sat among fishing tackle and plastic, clutching a syringe, and a young child lying on a raft surrounded by hundreds of water bottles.

Mr Taylor said the amount of litter collected was "astonishing" and he hoped his photos would deliver the "shock factor".
