Further details have emerged of the final moments the plane carrying Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala crashed off Alderney.

An interim report, external by the Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB) details the facts currently known about the Piper Malibu aircraft's journey.

Sala's body was located, however a private search for pilot David Ibbotson is expected to begin in the coming days.

The report states:

• Radar information provided an "almost complete record" of the flight's path
• Before the crash, radar showed the plane made an 180 degree right turn, descended at 7,000 ft per minute, before a final secondary radar return indicated the aircraft may have climbed rapidly to about 2,300 ft
• Underwater video footage showed the aircraft was "extensively damaged", with the main body of the aircraft broken into three parts
• A seat cushion from the plane also washed up in Bonne Nuit Bay on the north coast of Jersey

• Investigators are still considering the regulations applicable to the operation of the flight, including airworthiness requirements; flight crew licencing; and the carriage of passengers

• Investigators will now look at a more detailed analysis of radar information to try and understand the last few minutes of the flight
• They will also look at the implications of weather conditions and analyse underwater footage of the wreck

An initial report into a plane crash off Alderney last month which killed footballer Emiliano Sala has been published by the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB)., external

The report mainly outlines the facts already known and the next steps will involve piecing together what happened between the aircraft being lost from radar and it coming to rest on the sea bed.

The AAIB said this "will help us understand the potential causes of the accident".

It added it would publish a final report when the investigation concluded.

Argentinian Mr Sala had just signed for Cardiff City from French club Nantes for £15m when the plane crashed into the English Channel on 21 January.

He was the only passenger on board the Piper Malibu aircraft flying from Nantes to the Welsh capital.

His body was recovered on 6 February but pilot David Ibbotson, 59, of Crowle, Lincolnshire, has not been located.

British hotel chain Premier Inn has is looking for a site on Guernsey for a new hotel, it says.

Its initial inquiries are to find a site that could cater for about 65 to 100 rooms.

The company added the search was in the early stages and there was no information yet about specific locations.

A bicycle has been stolen from St Helier, police have said.

It was taken from Britannia Place on Bath Street on 15 February between 08:55 and 17:10.

The bicycle is a Mizuni hybrid model and officers want anyone with information to contact them on 612 612.

Two cars and a house have been damaged in garage fire in Jersey.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze broke out in the engine compartment of a car in the garage in St Lawrence at about 18:00 on Sunday.

It then spread "to other combustible items in the garage including another car", extensively damaging both vehicles.

Fourteen firefighters were called to the scene which also caused heat and smoke damage to the adjoining house.

An initial investigation indicated an electrical fault with one of the cars was "the most probable cause", firefighters said.

The actor who played detective Jim Bergerac says whoever is cast in the role in a tv remake must be a relatively unknown actor.

John Nettles, 76, ruled out returning to play the investigator after it was announced a new version of the Jersey-based classic tv crime drama was being made.

"I can't do it anymore because I am 76 - that would be ludicrous," he said.

"I haven't seen the script yet, but I was phoned up and told about it and I think it's probably a jolly good idea.

"I don't think it'll be Bergerac as we knew it because Jersey has changed so, so, much in the intervening years. It might be the daughter of Bergerac, something like that," Mr Nettles added.

The show is being revived by Artists Studio, backed by Endemol Shine UK, and Westward Studios. Artists Studio's executive producer Gub Neal said the remake would be updated to deal with "contemporary stories" and would boast a "strong serial spine".

Mr Nettles said he would like a "final hurrah" by playing a minor character, but that he did not have a favoured actor for his famous role.

"One of the great things about doing a reboot is that they mustn't have somebody known - like I wasn't known when I started out.

"You can't shift in Idris Elba, or somebody like that, you can't do that.

"You've got to have somebody unknown to make it their own, so-to-speak," he said.

Blanchelande College is set to reopen its sixth form centre next year.

The college has sent a letter to all parents stating its intention to offer A-levels from September 2020 - after a recent survey found more than 80% of parents wanted the centre to reopen.

Headteacher, Robert O'Brien says the move will help "align" Blanchelande with other schools under the new education model.

Jersey Police will be driving around in three new electric cars.

The force already has a number of smaller cars, but this is the first time that the larger, response cars have gone green.

Acting Chief Inspector Mark Hafey said the new vehicles would help the force become more environmentally friendly.
