Jersey ministers have launched a new scheme to help people who were abused in the island's care system claim compensation.
The Independent Care Inquiry Report, published two years ago, confirmed that many Jersey children had suffered while in the care of the States, particularly at Haut de la Garenne.
It was agreed that the States should offer them some kind of recompense.
The new Jersey Redress Scheme will begin to do that.
It will be led by Children's Minister Sam Mezec.
It will remain dry through Monday evening and overnight. There will be long clear periods. Just a light northerly breeze.
Minimum temperature: 11 to 14C (52 to 57F).
Tuesday is expected to be another dry day and there will be sunny periods. Winds will be light at first, but will freshen during the day, making it feel a little cooler than today.
Maximum temperature: 15 to 18C (59 to 64F).

Home Affairs Committee report author 'is impartial'

The author of a damning report into Guernsey's Home Affairs Committee has denied criticisms of her impartiality.
Professor Catherine Staite's report, commissioned by the island's Policy and Resources Committee (P&R), concluded the committee's "governance falls below acceptable standards".
It also said committee president Mary Lowe was accused of "harassing or bullying" staff, resulting in the Policy and Resources Committee asking for her resignation, which she has refused to do.
However, Deputy Carl Meerveld has raised concerns over what he said was a conflict of interest as Prof Staite is the wife of the chief exceutive in Alderney.
He said he would oppose any motion of no confidence laid against Deputy Lowe at this stage.
Professor Staite (pictured) said that she was entirely impartial and used the same methodology for her governance review of the Health Committee.

Meanwhile, Deputy Peter Ferbrache has called for P&R to provide proof the evidence collected to compile the report was legitimate, asking for notes of conversations and the identification of interviewees or he would also oppose any motion of no confidence laid against Deputy Lowe at this stage.
P&R says formal responses would be provided to deputies Meerveld and Ferbrache after the committee meeting on Tuesday.
It added that the report must be examined on the basis of the observations and recommendations it contained rather than on the personal life of the reviewer.
Witnesses sought for 'high speed' early morning crash

Guernsey Police want to speak to anyone who saw a crash on St Jacques Road, St Peter Port, between 02:00 and 02:30 on Friday, 28 June, 2019.
It has been alleged that a blue Fiat was driven at high speeds along this road resulting in significant damage to two parked vehicles and a wall.
Officers understand a group of people congregated around the vehicle shortly after the crash and would like to speak to them as they may have witnessed the actions of the driver and passengers.
Anyone with any information about this incident or CCTV footage of the accident can contact the investigating Officer PC 123 Cusack on 01481 725111.
On Friday police said all three people in the car were treated for minor injuries and the driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Deputy Peter Ferbrache has written to the island's most senior committee, Policy and Resources (P&R), after it called for the president of Homes Affairs, Deputy Mary Lowe, to resign.
Deputy Ferbrache has called for P&R to provide proof the evidence collected to compile the report was legitimate, asking for notes of conversations and the identification of interviewees.
Deputy Carl Meerveld has also raised concerns over what he said was a conflict of interest as the person who compiled the report,

Flight forced to return over 'possible bird strike'

Aurigny's Manchester to Guernsey flight was forced to turn around as a "precautionary measure" after a "possible bird strike".
The plane landed safely and initial inspections on the ground showed "no obvious defects".
A spokeswoman from the airline said they were making "alternative arrangements" for the flight's passengers and apologised for the disruption.
Man suffers face cut from glass during nightclub fight

A 19-year-old man suffered a face cut from a broken glass during a fight in a Jersey nightclub, police say.
Officers said the fight started near the DJ booth in the Havana nightclub at about 01:00 on Saturday. Another man's hand was also cut by glass during the incident.
The man with the facial injuries underwent surgery as part of his treatment.
Police said they arrested a 25-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of grave and criminal assault who was later released on bail.
Officers have appealed for witnesses.

A Guernsey politician has sent a letter to all deputies saying he would oppose a vote of no confidence in the president of the Home Affairs Committee, following a highly critical review of governance at Home Affairs.
She has said there is no evidence of the report's claims and has declined to step down at the request of P&R, noting that it was the States that was responsible for appointing her.
In a letter, Deputy Peter Ferbrache said "at the moment" was "very likely to oppose it and speak strongly against" any no confidence motion until "the full facts" were provided to ensure there was not a "significant injustice".
Nurses in Guernsey will continue to fight for a pay increase, but have no plans to strike currently.
That's according to the chairman of the Guernsey Branch of the Royal College of Nursing, Steven Mundy, following a demonstration that took place at the Town Church on Saturday.
Nurses are asking the Policy and Resources Committee increases their pay rate to bring it in line with other professionals locally.
However, the vice chairman of the southeast region of the Royal College of Nursing added that Saturday's demonstration by nurses was "just the start".
Kenny Lloyd said if needed, more action would come.

Some families in Guernsey have been unable to have dental check-ups due to an increased demand on the Children's Dental Service.
A recent change in criteria has meant nearly 500 more children now qualify for service due to the merger between supplementary benefit and rent rebate into a new Income Support scheme.
The increase in demand has meant the service has been unable to provide the check-up element of the three-and-a-half-year check that is available to every child.
The Health Committee said it was looking at alternative options to accommodate demand, and anyone who had been turned away would be contacted and offered an alternative.
It apologised and said it hoped to be able to reinstate a full level of service as soon as possible.

New Alderney States president sworn in

Mr Tate, a former barrister, has taken over the role from Stuart Trought.
The president of Alderney sits at the head of government and has the casting vote in any tied decisions.
Island renews Fairtrade status

This marks 14 years of Jersey supporting products that make sure the profits made go back to the farmers and workers in the developing world who help produce them.
The Jersey Fairtrade Island group is planning a celebration of this to recognise Jersey's contribution to Fairtrade.
