Guernsey open skies policy creates 'uneven playing field'
BBC Radio Guernsey
Aurigny says Guernsey's quasi open skies policy - meaning airlines no longer need an air transport licence to fly to and from the island - has created an uneven playing field for it.
In the company's 2018 annual report, the States-run airline is critical of the policy and a subsidy paid to Flybe for its London Heathrow route.
Both, it said, were having a negative impact on its finances, despite that 2018 saw an improved financial performance overall.
Aurigny said its turnover for 2018 was £45.5m, up from £44.7m in 2017, with an EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization] profit of £2.3m, up from £800,000 in 2017.
The open sky plans were put forward by the Economic Development Committee with the hope to increase competition.

Education bosses to maintain class sizes in new model
Chris Quevatre
BBC News Online
Guernsey education bosses have pledged to keep class sizes the same when the new one-school model comes in.
