Guernsey Raiders have warned that will lose tens of thousands of pounds from their budget if they can't play their September matches at Footes Lane, according to senior managers.

Work is being carried to replace the current athletics track, affecting the track and some of the surrounding land.

The club said they would lose money in tickets and gratuity if they cannot play there in September.

Builders have confirmed that redevelopment at the stadium was on schedule and should be finished by early October.

Jersey's States-owned housing company tells residents of "significant redevelopment".

Jersey's Under 19's cricket team have suffered two heavy losses in their opening World Cup qualifying matches in the Netherlands.

The islanders faced Ireland and Scotland, who were two of the pre-tournament favourites for the final place at next January's Under 19's World Cup in South Africa.

Against Ireland on Friday, Jersey lost by 113 runs having seen Ireland score 219-9 before being bowled out for 106 in 34.1 overs in reply.

They lost by 122 runs to Scotland a day later as the victors hit 233-6 before bowling out Jersey for 111 in reply as Josh Lawrenson scored an innings-high 52 for Jersey.

Jersey will hope for better fortunes against Denmark on Monday before taking on France on Tuesday.

A Jersey law change meaning more people are considered organ donors could help islanders waiting for life-changing eye surgery.

Currently, the only transplant surgery available on island is on the cornea of the eye and, on average, one person has this operation every month.

The corneas come from the United States because of difficulties getting them locally and in the UK.

Jersey eye consultant Dr Anthony Spiteri said he thought the new opt-out law would make it easier for surgeons to get transplants closer to home.

The opt-out law, passed in April 2018 and which came into effect this month, means consent for organ donation is implied unless specified otherwise.

Dr Spiteri said: "If we manage to source our corneas from the UK, then we will be able to give them our corneas which, given the economies of scale on Jersey, means we would have a surplus.

"Then they would give us theirs in a relatively short travel time on demand."

People using Condor Ferries to get to and from the Channel islands are facing a fourth day of disruption.

The Liberation broke down on Friday and needed repairs.

It is back up and running now but Monday's sailings will depart around four hours later than they should.

Timetables are due to be back to normal on Tuesday.
