Staying windy through Tuesday evening with most of the showers clearing. In the early hours, the winds will be moderate. There will also be clear spells and it will become largely dry.

The National Trust for Jersey is asking people to stop dropping litter at two island beauty spots.

In a post on social media, external, the organisation said it had found litter on land at Le Hocq and behind the pier at St Brelade nearly every Monday morning.

Fences had been found broken, "pulled part and either burnt or thrown in the sea".

Rubbish discovered included plastic bags, drinks bottles, smashed glass and other items, staff said.

The trust said it could not patrol all of its sites and needed people's help to catch whoever's doing it.

Trust Lands Manager Jon Parkes told the BBC: "It's taking up so much of our time it's quite an issue".

People who have to move out of Le Marais estate in Jersey will get plenty of help to find somewhere else to live, according to the housing minister

About 500 people will need to move out of 224 properties on the estate owned by Andium Homes over a period of four years.

It's being refurbished with new kitchens, bathrooms and heating.

Andium said residents would be accommodated nearby or in the refurbished blocks.

Senator Sam Mezec said there would be "face-to-face meetings" with every individual household.

He said: "Everyone can get a personalised solution, rather than a simple 'you go off and do this with yourself', which would have been completely inappropriate."

Two consultant general surgeons are retiring from the Medical Specialist Group in Guernsey.

Miss Carol Makin and Mr Robert Kiff have a combined total of 85 years employment since qualifying as doctors in the 1970s.

They will be replaced by a general and colorectal surgeon from Guernsey as Miss Fallaize has been appointed as the new consultant colorectal surgeon in Guernsey.

Truro City sign former Exeter City goalkeeper Hamon and ex-Southampton youngster Harrison Davis.

Jersey's Under 19 cricketers got an impressive first win in their Under 19 World Cup qualifying campaign.

The islanders beat Denmark by 130 runs in the Netherlands to move up to fourth place in the six-team group.

Batting first Jersey made 233-9 in their 50 overs as Matt Daubenay scored 75 before Harrison Carlyon and Julius Saumerer each took three wickets as the Danes were bowled out for 103 in 28.5 overs.

The islanders face France on Tuesday before their final match against the hosts Netherlands on Thursday.

The head of Guernsey's main scrutiny body says the committee will be taking legal advice before looking into the appointment process of the new head of curriculum and standards in Guernsey.

It comes after Head of Education Matt Fallaize (pictured) said he would not be resigning after being accused of overruling an employment panel.

The Guernsey Press reported, external that Deputy Fallaize overruled an independent interview panel's choice of a local candidate in April.

Deputy Fallaize said he had "acted honourably throughout" the appointment.

The identity of the initially successful candidate is unknown, but the role was eventually offered to prominent head teacher and education blogger Clare Sealy.

Scrutiny Management Committee President Chris Green said it was an issue complicated by the ongoing legal proceedings and they didn't want to "blunder in".

Police in Jersey are warning drivers to take care on roads because of the high winds and rain.

Officers said a lot of debris was left on roads on Tuesday morning, and a tree fell across a road at the top of Mont Felard.

The island has seen wind gusts of up to force eight and there are thundery showers.

Elizabeth Castle is closed because of the weather, and Jersey Heritage confirmed the top of Gorey Castle was staying closed until the weather improved.

Ferry operators also said the conditions were too bad for the ferries to operate.

Condor cancelled several Liberation and Rapide sailings because of the adverse conditions.

Jersey's chief minister could be forced to have at least one female assistant chief minister in future, following recommendations from a group looking at the balance of genders in the States.

The Diversity Forum, which aims to make Jersey's government more equal for men and women, has produced a report looking into improving gender balance.

Among these recommendations are requiring at least one female assistant chief minister to be appointed.

The report also calls on the States to make sure there is no discrimination in law, for example where husbands are responsible for the tax affairs of their wives.

The panel has also expressed a desire to see more women in the States Assembly and ensure equal representation on all states panels and committees.

Condor has cancelled several Liberation and Rapide sailings because of adverse weather conditions.

Among the cancelled services are the Liberation's return sailings from Poole to both Guernsey and Jersey, as well as the Rapide's return sailings from St Malo to Guernsey.

However the Rapide's return sailings from St Malo to Jersey are taking place as usual.

The cancellations follow further disruption over the weekend and Monday caused by a technical fault with the Liberation.

A new "sugar smart" scheme hopes to change which foods are on display at the checkout in supermarkets in an effort to tackle childhood obesity.

Nutritionist Alex Kosmas, one of the people behind the project, is currently working with Guernsey Playscheme to teach children how to make healthier food choices.

Mr Kosmas said he hopes to "work with retailers to offer adults and young people healthier options" when shopping.
