Staying cloudy and rather murky overnight on Wednesday as a weak weather front pivots across the area.

Most places will stay dry, but the odd patch of drizzle remains a possibility.

Another rather cloudy, misty and murky start to Thursday.

However, as the day unfolds, some brighter interludes are expected to develop. Moderate southwesterly winds again.

The management of Guernsey's Blossom Fields Care Home, which is set to close at the end of October, say the decision to shuts its door was taken with "much regret".

In a statement they said it was not an easy decision but followed the resignation of the care manager and "general difficulties in recruiting suitably qualified staff, which appears to be an island wide problem" has left them with "no other option".

They said their main focus was "now to ensure that both our residents and staff are supported during this difficult time".

Blossom Fields Residential Care Home intends to close at the end of October, Guernsey's health authorities have said.

A spokesman said social workers from Adult Community Services would be liaising with residents and the care home manager "to understand their specific needs and support individuals and their families to make a decision about their ongoing care with another provider".

The home has 22 single and eight double beds available to both open and local market residents.

He said the authorities would work with the home's management team to rehouse residents "as quickly and sensitively as possible".

The swimming pool at Fort Regent is in the early stages of being demolished.

The deconstruction of the building is estimated to take about 46 weeks, after which the site on Glacis Field will be returned to grass level.

Ten new prison officers and one prison nurse officer have been recruited to work at the States of Jersey Prison Service (SoJPS) after recently graduating.

They were selected from more than 70 applicants following a recruitment campaign earlier this year.

They graduated on 6 September at a passing-out ceremony, in front of their family and friends.

Prison Governor Nick Cameron said: “I would like to congratulate all the new prison officers on the successful completion of their training and warmly welcome them into the (SoJPS) team."

The Digital Jersey Academy was opened on Tuesday night in St Helier - a hub marking the island’s digital growth with a greater focus on skills development and training.

Thirty students who are interested in a career in the tech sector will take on the Digital Leadership Programme.

It will focus on leadership, technology and creativity in both the state-of-the-art facility and online.

Guernsey's Health and Social Care Committee's decision to remove ward tours at the hospital for expecting mothers has been described as "deeply frustrating" by one Guernsey maternity group.

Until July women in Guernsey were able to visit the hospital to help quell any concerns, but the service was cancelled because of concerns over infection control and privacy.

Rachel Le Prevost, chair of Bailiwick Maternity Voices, said they offered volunteers to run the tours in an effort to keep them running, but the idea was rejected.

Mrs Le Provost said the organisation had received "resounding feedback from parents that this isn't what they wanted to happen".

"People were really quite angry... it's something that's always been offered and now it's been taken away", she added.

Jersey's education department will push for some teachers to be given key worker status, meaning they would be eligible for subsidised housing.

Earlier this year, BBC Jersey revealed ministers were considering the move, thereby defining teachers as essential employees.

Assistant Education Minister Jeremy Macon said he would be recommending a "more nuanced approach" to who gets key worker status in order to be more "flexible to Jersey's needs".

Deputy Macon also said he wanted to see "a better service" for students and they were looking at the funding review for schools to improve the school system.

"We are always looking to refine and develop the offering that our schools present, it can always be improved", he added.
