  1. Welcome to a big day for Donald Trump

There are two important things happening today for former president Donald Trump.

Deadline day - Trump needs to pay a $464m (£367m) penalty, or secure a bond from a private company. But he has been having trouble coming up with the cash.

The eye-watering figure is from a civil fraud trial in New York where Trump was ruled to have inflated his assets in order to secure better deals on loans.

If he cannot pay the full amount or secure a bond by today, his most prized assets could be seized - including Trump Tower in New York and even his sprawling Florida club, Mar-a-Lago.

Stormy Daniels case - Trump’s first criminal trial was meant to start today - he faces 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.

But it was delayed to allow Trump’s lawyers time to go through thousands of documents.

Trump is expected to appear at a hearing today in New York which should clarify when that trial will begin.

Our reporters Nada Tawfik and Kayla Epstein are at court to follow proceedings, and our US team is watching for updates on that looming cash deadline.
