Eric Garner: Payouts rise as cameras hold US police accountable

A year ago, Eric Garner died after a New York police officer restrained him and pulled him to the ground.

This week New York City agreed to pay his family $5.9 million. In the Garner case, and many others around the country, the fact that the incident was filmed made a difference.

Here are four recent cases where a video was recorded either by a passerby using a phone, by journalists on the scene or by cameras inside police patrol cars.
