'Our history is encapsulated in these books'

New Beacon Books, in north London, is Britain's oldest black bookshop.

It has championed Afro-Caribbean and ethnic minority writers for over 50 years.

But, like many bookshops, it's been struggling in recent years and faced closure in December - until it was saved by a crowdfunding campaign.

Produced by Joe Inwood and Nelson Abbey.
