Eddie Izzard has met the Prime Minister after running 43 marathons across the UK in 51 days, all to raise money for Sport Relief.

The 47-year-old crossed the finishing line in a wet Trafalgar Square in London on Tuesday night.

He's run 1,100 miles (1,770km) and has raised more than £200,000.

The comedian and actor says his body is now knackered.

"My feet ache and they were ripping off," he said. "My legs are empty of energy. The rest of the body's OK. The mind's OK but a bit befuddled.

"The nipples are good. Some people's nipples fall off, mine stayed. I don't know what that's all about."

Eddie Izzard finished a marathon almost every day for seven weeks but missed out on his five-hour target by 30 seconds in his final run.

He also said he didn't know anything about reports his co-stars from Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, had sponsored him.

He said: "It would be very nice if they did but I'm sure they're very busy. But they're generous guys so they could have done.

"Brad's got great charity stuff that goes on in New Orleans and I went down and did a gig down there. And George really works hard in Darfur. We're all buddies.

"I try not to hassle them but someone must have asked on my behalf because I would not pick up the phone and say, 'Guys. Give me some cash'. But it's for Sport Relief so they know it's a good cause."

Eddie Izzard did just five weeks of training for the event and said one of the highlights was being joined by other runners, like Denise Van Outen, Frank Skinner and Steve Cram.

He says he's now going to take a well-earned break but will have to carry on running for a while so he doesn't seize up.

"It'll be a nice, relaxing run. It'll probably be in a different country and a holiday destination wherever I go to," he said.

"Apparently I have to keep doing that otherwise my legs tie up in knots."
