Rihanna track gets worldwide premiere

Rihanna's forthcoming fourth album is released on 23 November

The first single from Rihanna's forthcoming fourth album has been debuted worldwide.

Russian Roulette, written by Ne-Yo, was simultaneously played at 4.23pm (20 October) on BBC Radio 1, the singer's official website and American radio stations.

The track will leave many wondering if the lyrics are saying something about the night she was attacked by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown ahead of this year's Grammy Awards.

Russian Roulette features the lyrics: "You can see my heart beating/you can see it through my chest/that I'm terrified/but I'm not leaving/know that I must pass this test."

If that is about Rihanna and Chris, her record company are saying nothing.

When asked about a possible connection the message came back: "No comment ;-)".

The debut of the slow-tempo ballad came following a online count down featured on the Barbadian singer's website claiming "The Wait Is Ova".

Rhianna's new album R Rated will be released on 23 November. It's the follow up to 2007's Good Girl Gone Bad.

As previously reported a number of tracks on R Rated, which also features Justin Timberlake and production team Starsgate, have been written by British production team Chase 'N' Status.

Last month they told Newsbeat about working with her, Saul Milton said: "We just spent a lot of time with the writers and with her and she's just a really cool girl, down to earth.

"What we've heard that she's recorded is exciting for us and hopefully for her.

"I actually got a call from Rihanna at 6am one day, before we even met up saying how she loves the tracks and that she can't wait to work with us. That was a big realisation that it's happening.

"When she doesn't like something she'll let you know. When she likes something she'll let you know as well."
