Fall Out Boy have confirmed that they're going on an "indefinite break".

The Chicago band have said they'll take some time off and that they currently have no plans to reconvene.

A spokesperson for the foursome confirmed: "It's a break with an indefinite date when they're coming back."

Bass player and mouthpiece Pete Wentz was last seen hosting backstage television coverage for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.

Time off

Speaking to Newsbeat earlier this month Wentz explained: "I'm going to do the EMAs then I'm going to do a quick trek around the globe.

"It'll just be me going, Andy [drums] and Joe [guitar] are working on some stuff and Patrick's [vocals] been remodelling his house for what seems like forever, he's producing some stuff."

Wentz, a regular fixture in the American tabloids and gossip magazines, is married to singer Ashlee Simpson. The couple have one child together.

Meanwhile, the band release their greatest hits compilation this week.
