West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum was Kasabian's second number one album

Kasabian have been announced as one of the headliners for next year's T in the Park festival.

The band last played the event in Balado, Kinross-shire, in 2007 when they headlined the Radio 1/NME stage.

Lead singer Tom Meighan said he was looking forward to the summer gig.

He said: "T in the Park holds a special place in our hearts. We've always said how much we'd love to headline it and now we are.

"We can't wait. We're going to play a blinder and it's going to be massive for us and for the crowd."

The Leicester band's 2009 release, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, was recently named album of the year by Q magazine.

Limited tickets for T in the Park go on sale on 4 December at 9am.
