The Knife have confirmed details of a new album, the music to an opera based on on the life of scientist Charles Darwin.

Tomorrow, In A Year, a two CD LP the pair recorded for a Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma alongside collaborators Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, will be released on 1 March.

The onstage version of the opera debuted in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September 2009.

On the release, The Knife's Olof Dreijer said: "I really like the basic theatrical values of opera and the easy way it brings forward a narrative. We've approached this before in The Knife but never in such a clear way."

Last year, The Knife's Karin Dreijer Andersson released an album under her alter ego Fever Ray to critical acclaim.

Silent Shout was the group's last release together in 2006.
