Drum and bass trio Pendulum are playing 11 shows around the UK in May

Australian drum and bass trio Pendulum have been confirmed as the Friday night headliners at this year's RockNess Festival at Loch Ness.

Leftfield and The Strokes have already been announced to top the bill on the Saturday and Sunday nights.

The festival is taking place on the weekend of the 11, 12 and 13 June with tickets already on sale.

Radio 1 is the festival's official partner this year with Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Rob da Bank all due to DJ.

Other acts already announced include Vampire Weekend, Fatboy Slim, Doves, Friendly Fires and Enter Shikari with Dave Clarke also playing live.

Talking about Pendulum headlining, festival director Jim King said: "This is an important announcement for the festival.

"Pendulum have been a hugely impressive band over the last year, their new album is amazing and looks set to take them even higher.

"There's now no better reason to get to Loch Ness on the Friday than simply to check out their new live show in the Clash Arena."

Pendulum are touring the UK in the spring starting off in Belfast on 17 May and finishing in Swindon on 31 May.

They're also due to release their new album in the next few months, which has a working title of Immersion.

Zane Lowe will play their new single Watercolour on his show on 8 March.
