The Libertines confirm pre-festival London gig

The Libertines have announced full details of their first proper gig in six years in London, a warm-up for this year's Reading and Leeds festival.

Last month, lead singer Carl Barat told Newsbeat about the show but full details have now been confirmed.

The band, which reformed in March, will headline London's Kentish Town Forum on 25 August.

Fans wanting tickets have until 6pm on 13 August to register their interest.

'Last-minute'

Speaking to Newsbeat last month Carl Barat said the foursome would spend a number of days rehearsing in the north London venue before playing.

"We've got a bit of time blocked out," he confirmed.

"As I say it's a bit last-minute - it always is. Of course we'll be able to do it and we'll be able to do it with aplomb.

"Overall I'm excited, and that's starting to come through a lot more now. It started off as pure nerves. Now I'm starting to look forward to it."

The reformed Libertines will play before headliners Arcade Fire at this year's Reading and Leeds festival later this month.
