Rachel Stevens came second on Strictly Come Dancing in 2008

Former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens has given birth to a girl, it's been announced.

The 32-year-old, who didn't know the sex of the child while she was pregnant, had Amelie in the early hours of this morning (16 November).

It's the first child for the former Strictly Come Dancing star and husband Alex Bourne.

A spokeswoman for the star said: "She arrived this morning at 2.05am. Mother and baby are both doing really well."

Stevens, who previously dated actor Jeremy Edwards, was the runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing in 2008 and married Bourne, 32, who works in property, in London last year.

The statement continued: "She arrived this morning at 2.05am. Mother and baby are both doing really well."

After the break-up of S Club 7 in 2003, Rachel Stevens released two albums in 2003 (Funky Dory) and 2005 (Come and Get It) with single Sweet Dreams My LA Ex making it to number two in the singles chart.

The singer was previously engaged to actor Jeremy Edwards but the pair split up in 2004.

Rachel Stevens thanks her fan on Twitter: "Thank you all for your lovely messages. We're so in love with our new little girl!

"Lots of love from the three of us! X"
