The X Factor finalist's charity single Heroes is topping the UK singles chart, according to the official midweek chart update.

The track, a David Bowie cover, is one of the fastest selling of the year having sold over 100,000 copies in 72 hours.

Ex-X Factor contestant Olly Murs is on course to score a top 10 hit with his second single Thinking Of Me.

The album chart is a three-way battle between Take That, JLS and Westlife.

Take That's Progress tops the official midweek chart in its second week of release holding off competition from JLS's second effort Outta This World.

Last week Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams' reconvened band scored the highest selling first week figures for an album since Oasis' Be Here Now in 1997.

Other new entrants in the top 10 include Westlife (at number 3) and My Chemical Romance with their new album Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys.
