Calvin Harris gives up singing live

Calvin Harris has said he plans to retire from singing live, saying he'll now concentrate on producing other artists and DJing.

The producer, who's released two albums, told Australia's Herald Sun: "I've stopped all live shows."

Harris reiterated his comments on Twitter saying, "it's not a joke" adding "all the best bits of my songs are other people singing them anyway!"

The musican has had number one hits with I'm Not Alone and Dance Wiv Me.

'Not a singer'

He released his debut album I Created Disco in 2007, following it up with Ready For The Weekend in 2009.

He has been a regular fixture on the UK live circuit as well as festivals.

In the same interview, given during a DJ tour of Australia, he said: "I'm not a singer. I'm not trained.

"Taking it onto the stage in front of people was terrifying. I got much, much better at it but I never lost the terror.

"Looking after your voice on tour is such a priority and such a nightmare. If I had a night out the night before a show it'd be awful and I'd feel for the audience.

"I'll do some studio singing for sure, but never live. It's not worth the risk for anyone, for the people in the audience or me, my pride."

However, he confirmed the decision will not see him retire from making music.

"I'm going to focus more on production and DJing and zero percent of my time will go on singing," he said. "I'll do tracks with people who can sing well - proper artists, proper performers."
