Muse and Strokes to headline Reading and Leeds festival
- Published
Muse, My Chemical Romance and The Strokes have been confirmed as the headliners for this year's Reading and Leeds festivals.
The event takes place at Reading's Little John's farm and Leeds' Bramham Park between 26-28 August.
Priced at £192.50 for a weekend pass, tickets have now gone on sale.
My Chemical Romance's frontman Gerard Way said: "We're honoured to be sharing headlining with them. The Strokes are one of our all time favourite bands."
'Very excited'
Reformed Brit pop group Pulp have also been named as a co-headliner for the event.
The Sheffield band will play before The Strokes in Reading but will close the evening in Leeds.
Speaking to Newsbeat, My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way said the band were looking forward to returning, saying they were "very excited".
Last time the New Jersey rockers performed at the festival they received a mixed reaction, with some fans throwing bottles at the band on stage.
"The second time was a bit more interesting and awesome at the same time," said Way.
"It was a real cultural shift for the band. Something really awesome happened that day because there was a lot of negative tabloid press. Following Slayer was tough.
"It was a bit combative at first then it turned into this amazing thing by the end where everyone was singing along."
Full line-up
The festival's main stage will also see appearances throughout the weekend from artists including 30 Seconds To Mars, The Offspring, The National, Jimmy Eat World, Elbow and Interpol.
Bands scheduled to play the NME/Radio 1 stage include Liam Gallagher's latest project Beady Eye, White Lies, Jane's Addiction, Crystal Castles, 2ManyDJs and The Streets.
Last year's festival was headlined by Arcade Fire, Blink 182 and Guns N' Roses.
Axl Rose's rockers controversially played on after the event's curfew and criticised bosses saying their disagreement was "war".
