MPs call for forced marriage ban

  • Published

A group of influential MPs says current laws on forced marriage, where families can be stopped from taking their children abroad, don't go far enough.

The Home Affairs Select Committee wants the entire practice of forced marriage banned.

Only one person has been jailed for forcing someone to marry since 2008.

In February Newsbeat's Tulip Mazumdar travelled to Pakistan where British officials rescue around seven young people a month from forced marriages.

She spoke to one girl, "Henna", about her experience.
