Lily Allen is to get married in Gloucestershire this month

Lily Allen has paid for "a number" of extra police officers to be on duty during her forthcoming wedding, Gloucestershire police have confirmed.

The star is to wed her partner Sam Cooper in the village of Cranham on Saturday 11 June.

Gloucestershire Police Spokeswoman Alexa Collicott said it was to ensure "minimal disruption" to residents.

She added it was "in an effort to reduce the impact their wedding has on local people and taxpayers".

The statement said the extra staffing was due to "the potential attendance of the media in large numbers as well as any sightseers who may attend.

"Gloucestershire Police have an obligation to police any events that could cause any form of disruption to the local community and in order to ensure the safety of local residents and those attending.

"The bride and groom are also supportive of the local policing team and our work to minimise the impact of their big day on Cranham residents."

The force confirmed their managing of the event will involve the closure of a road.
