Diana Vickers has announced that she's parted company with record label RCA.

The former X Factor contestant wrote on her Tumblr blog that she wants to take a new path and the decision is "purely based on a creative level".

She added: "I will always be really thankful for the time we've spent together and the support they've given me."

The singer, who signed to the label in 2009, says she's keen for fans to hear her second album.

She went on: "I've grown up a lot since the first album and whilst the past couple years have been a lot of fun and a great success, I'm now ready to take a wander down a different, very exciting path!

"In order to grow, this change has to be made."

Vickers' debut single Once went to number one when it was released in April 2010, with first album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree also reaching the top spot.

The 19-year-old told fans: "I'm so proud of where the second album is right now and I'm counting down the minutes until it's all ready and you guys can finally hear it!

"I've been having the best time over the past six months - being creative, working with so many inspirational people, falling in love with LA and growing as an artist."

The singer, from Lancashire, made it to the semi-final stage of X Factor in 2008.

She released two further singles from her debut album called The Boy Who Murdered Love and My Wicked Heart.

As well as focussing on her musical career she has also appeared on stage in a West End production of Little Voice and launched her own fashion line called Dee V.
