Facebook users will be able to rent nine Doctor Who episodes for 48 hours

Doctor Who episodes will be available to rent on Facebook for the first time.

The service, being launched by BBC Worldwide on Wednesday (13 July), will include at least one story that has never been released on DVD.

Fans will be able to buy credits to rent nine digitally remastered stories on the official Doctor Who Facebook page.

The episodes will include Tomb Of The Cybermen, dating back to 1967, the Doctor's second incarnation.

Another story on the page will be The Greatest Show In The Galaxy starring Sylvester McCoy, which first aired in 1988.

Facebook users will be able to watch the stories for 48 hours once they've been rented.

BBC Worldwide chief executive John Smith said: "We see this service as a perfect way to give our fans what they want, as well as a great way for them to get their fix between now and the autumn when series six continues."
