Lady Gaga has told a US radio show that she used to take cocaine alone in her apartment.
"I think that I was lonely and there was something about the drugs that made me feel like I had a friend," she told US radio DJ Howard Stern.
"I didn't do [drugs] with other people. I did it alone in my apartment and I wrote music and I regret every line I ever did."
She said to fans: "Don't touch it [cocaine], it's the devil."
She also admitted to using cannabis but said she didn't think that that was the same as other illegal drugs.
"Well, come on, that's not... ," she laughed, adding: "I really don't do it very often - I'm really honest about it.
"My past using any drugs or dressing any certain way was never a rebellion."
And after Stern, who is well known in the US for his controversial style, pressed her on the issue of drugs, Gaga once again offered fans her advice.
"I've got a lot of young fans... the truth is I don't want anyone doing drugs," she said.
