Cheryl Cole will not be taking part in a remake of Dirty Dancing

Cheryl Cole's management is denying that the singer is in the running to play Baby in a remake of Dirty Dancing.

Rumours on the internet suggested that her former dance partner and friend Derek Hough had been campaigning for the 28-year old to play Baby while he took the lead role as Johnny Castle.

Cheryl Cole's publicist said: "Cheryl is only confirmed for a cameo in What To Expect When You're Expecting."

No names have been confirmed yet for the remake of 1987 film Dirty Dancing.

Hollywood production company Lionsgate is shooting the new movie.

It will be choreographed by Kenny Ortega, the man behind the original film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, High School Musical and Michael Jackson's rehearsal documentary, This Is It.

Cheryl Cole has been confirmed to star alongside Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez in the film What To Expect When You're Expecting.

That film is due out in the UK next year.

The former X factor judge's management has also denied she will be making a guest appearance on TV show Glee and comedy How I Met Your Mother.
