Singer Ed Sheeran criticises online ticket touts

Ed Sheeran has criticised people buying multiple tickets for his gigs and reselling them online for a profit.

The Suffolk singer has appealed to those people doing it to stop.

"If you buy my tickets just to sell on eBay then please don't," he told Newsbeat.

"I have fans who want to actually come and watch me play instead of just making money."

Sheeran's debut single The A Team spent a total of 11 weeks in the top 10 of the UK singles chart since its release on 13 June.

Tickets for his autumn and spring UK tours have both been in high demand since going on sale in recent months.

"There are some people who just buy 10 tickets at a time and just stick them on eBay for £150," said Sheeran.

"I have fans at gigs who come up to me and are like, 'I spent £150 to come here tonight.'

"I specially put the prices at £10 or £12 because people can actually come instead of paying ridiculous prices."

His next UK series of gigs begins in Oxford on 2 October.
