Ruth Jones says she still wants to record a Gavin & Stacey special with James Corden but says at the moment, they are both too busy.

"We want to do a special, I just don't know when because of time," she said.

Ruth Jones, who played Nessa, has recorded a new 10-part comedy series for Sky1 called Stella which is due to be broadcast in January.

James Corden, Smithy in the BBC series, is appearing in a play called One Man, Two Guvnors in London's West End.

That's due to transfer to New York's Broadway next year.

"James and I have always said if we can do a special, we will," added Ruth Jones. "We intend to do a special but we've never changed that story.

"He's off to America. If this series [Stella] goes again I'll be doing that. It's all about time.

"I said to somebody today, 'Perhaps when I'm 75 and James is 62 we'll revisit Nessa and Smithy and see what they're like at that time of their lives.' But we'll see."

'Energy'

Ruth Jones, 45, was speaking at the press night for One Man, Two Guvnors where she was watching James Corden playing the role of Francis Henshall, a man who finds himself working for two small-time crooks.

She says the 33-year-old is a great actor but was still surprised by his role.

She said: "The James I know likes to lie down on the sofa for hours and there he is, expending all this energy up on stage for hours and hours and hours.

"It was quite startling to see.

"I felt so proud of him. I know he can act but that was beyond acting."
