Lana Del Rey pulled out of the gig due to 'illness'

Lana Del Rey pulled out of her first UK gig of 2012 in London last night (24 January) due to illness.

The New York singer announced that she was unable to play the gig at Camden venue KOKO a couple of hours before the concert was due to begin.

Organised by MTV, the broadcaster offered fans refunds to the show, which also featured The Maccabees.

It was Lana Del Rey's first scheduled gig in the UK since she performed a short tour in November last year.

Following the success of singles Video Games and Born To Die, the 25-year-old is in London promoting her debut album.

Last week Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe defended the singer after she received criticism from American pundits for her performance on US TV comedy show Saturday Night Live.

"It was unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly," he told Newsbeat.

"I also think people are making it about things other than the performance.

"If you read what people are saying about her online, it's all about her past and her family and stuff that's nobody else's business - I don't think it warranted anywhere near that reaction."

Lana Del Rey's debut album Born To Die is to be released on 30 January.
