Ed Sheeran to headline Brits gig for War Child charity

Ed Sheeran is set to headline this year's War Child Brits concert.

He will be joined on the bill by Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon from Blur, who will perform an acoustic set.

The annual charity event, which raises money for War Child, takes place in London two nights before the Brit Awards ceremony.

The singer said: "War Child does amazing music events for such a great cause. To be asked to play this year is an absolute honour."

Dry The River, who were shortlisted on the BBC Sound of 2012 list, will also perform at the event.

The gigs have raised over £500,000 for War Child over the last three years.

'Unforgettable night'

The charity aims to protect and help children in war zones around the world - including child soldiers and children in prison.

Ben Knowles, the music director of War Child, said: "This year's amazing line-up will make for a stunning, unforgettable night and one that will raise money to help thousands of children affected by war."

Previous performers at the concerts include Coldplay, The Killers, Mark Ronson and Kasabian.

Gary Barlow, Bono, Boy George and Noel Fielding have also appeared as special guests at the gigs.

Ed is nominated for four Brits at this year's ceremony, including best male and best album.

Blur have already been announced as the recipients of the outstanding contribution award.

Tickets for the event, which takes place at Shepherds Bush Empire go on sale at 9am on Saturday 4 February.
